Joliet had a vision to create an online vocal studio that promises progress to those who struggle to find a mentor in music that understands. With holistic exercises, gender affirming training, and a sensitive approach to the voice, Joliet will meet your needs.
Meet the Teacher

Joliet Alece Shuff – Voice, Piano, and Acting Instructor
Bachelor of Music Education – Vocal Concentration, Southeastern Louisiana University (Honors Graduate)
Joliet Shuff is a dedicated voice, piano, and acting instructor whose musical journey spans more than 13 years of vocal study, 12 years of piano training, and extensive performance experience on both national and international stages. With a strong foundation in classical technique and a genuine passion for musical theatre, Joliet offers a well-rounded, student-centered approach to music education that inspires creativity, builds confidence, and nurtures artistic growth. Joliet currently teaches at the Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts (LAAPA), where she provides private instruction in voice, piano, and acting, and serves as co-director for sound and technical production. She is also the Performing Arts Teacher at a middle school nearby, where she integrates vocal performance, musicianship, and theatrical training into the classroom to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment for young artists. Throughout her career, Joliet has maintained an active performance schedule, singing with numerous churches and choral groups across Louisiana, including St. Augustine Episcopal Church, Zachary United Methodist Church, and the Cathedral of St. Joseph. She has held lead roles in a variety of musicals such as The Drowsy Chaperone (as Drowsy), Children of Eden (as Mama Noah), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (as Olive), and Songs for a New World. She also performed abroad as Doralice in Il Trionfo dell’Onore during a residency with La Musica Lirica in Italy. Joliet’s educational background is equally impressive. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Education with honors from Southeastern Louisiana University, where she held leadership positions in the concert choir, including section leader and choir vice president. She was a long-standing member of District Honor Choir and All-State Choir, and participated in professional organizations such as ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) and Sigma Alpha Iota, serving as Vice President of Membership. As an educator, Joliet combines technical precision with expressive freedom, helping her students master foundational skills while exploring their own unique sound. She is also experienced in music production, audio/lighting technology, and studio recording, offering students a modern and comprehensive approach to vocal performance. Her teaching is shaped by mentorship from esteemed instructors including Alissa Rowe, Sara Chiesa, Johnnie Bankens, and Dolores Ziegler, among others. Whether you are preparing for auditions, working toward a professional music career, or simply looking to grow as a performer, Joliet brings warmth, expertise, and enthusiasm to every lesson. She is passionate about helping students discover their full musical potential and empowering them to share their voice with the world.
